These terms apply when you use the Field Notes From Everywhere website, join our email list, or subscribe to The Reading Room. Field Notes From Everywhere ("FNFE", "we", "us") runs the site and The Reading Room, and you can reach us at hello@fieldnotesfromeverywhere.com. By using FNFE, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

What FNFE is

FNFE publishes reading lists built from what real readers recommend, alongside our own editorial judgement. Our lists and descriptions are opinions, meant to help you find books you'll enjoy. We can't promise you'll love every book we recommend, and some books deal with mature or difficult themes, so please use your own judgement about what's right for you.

Using the site

You're welcome to read, share and link to our articles. Please don't:

• copy or republish our lists or articles in full, or use them for commercial purposes, without our permission;
• scrape or collect content from the site with automated tools;
• interfere with the site, or try to access parts of it you're not meant to;
• use the site or our email forms for anything unlawful, or to sign up other people without their permission.

Our content

The articles, lists, descriptions and design of FNFE belong to us or to the people who license them to us. Book titles, cover images and author names belong to their publishers and authors, and appear here only to identify the books we're recommending.

Advertising and sponsored content

FNFE may show ads and publish sponsored content, on the site, in our emails and on our social media. Sponsored content is always clearly labelled, and no one can pay to be included in, or change the order of, our reading lists. Our Disclosures page explains how we make money.

Our email list

Our email list is free. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email. Our Privacy & Cookies page explains how we handle your information.

The Reading Room

The Reading Room is a daily email of themed book recommendations.

• Price. Membership costs US$7 per month, plus any taxes shown at checkout. It renews automatically every month until you cancel.
• Cancelling. You can cancel at any time, using the link in your Paddle receipt email, through paddle.net, or by emailing us. Your membership continues until the end of the month you've paid for, and you won't be charged again.
• Price changes. If the price changes, we'll tell you by email before the new price applies to you, so you can cancel first if you prefer.
• Changes to The Reading Room. We may change what The Reading Room includes, or stop offering it. If we stop it, we'll tell members in advance and won't charge for any period after it ends.

Payments are handled by Paddle

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. When you subscribe, you're also agreeing to Paddle's buyer terms.

Refund policy

Reading Room payments are not refundable. You can cancel at any time to stop future payments, and you keep access until the end of the month you've paid for.

This doesn't affect any rights you have under the law where you live, including any legal right to cancel and receive a refund. Refunds are issued by Paddle. To ask about one, contact Paddle through paddle.net, or email us at hello@fieldnotesfromeverywhere.com.

Links to other websites

FNFE links to other websites, such as book retailers, advertisers, sponsors and our social media pages. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, products or how they handle your information.

Disclaimers

We work hard to keep FNFE accurate and available, but we provide it "as is". We can't guarantee the site will always be available or error-free, or that every detail about a book (such as its description or availability) is correct.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, FNFE isn't liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site or The Reading Room, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that can't be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. If we make a significant change that affects Reading Room members, we'll tell them by email before it takes effect.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If you're a consumer living elsewhere, you also keep any protections the law where you live gives you.
